Ah, the unpredictability of creativity. Last time I posted I was mumbling about the tenth anniversary project thing and how it's gonna be great and stuff...

Well, ok not really, but something close enough. Anyway.

Came out that after making the first track (which in its raw state is about 4 minutes long) I had no idea what to do afterwards. So I went in a totally different direction.

First, I'm blending all my projects together to form only two, Din Krakatau and Pink Noise Inferno. I'd move it all to one, but Din Krakatau has already a myspace and a whole bunch of people heard it (well, a whole lot from my point of perspective starts around 50 and I'm sure at least that much people did hear about it) so it's going to be two. Din Krakatau gets all the material that takes long to make and is attempting to blend genres and create unified albums by going in totally different directions on every track (thus taking ages to do anything), while Pink Noise Inferno gets everything else, mostly all the "theme/sound" creations of mine, meaning one album might be total noise, while the next one pure lullabies... or something like that.

Second, I started working on an album for PNI that's rather heavy and dark. Friends who heard the first tracks said something about industrial, noise and illbient. Personally I have no idea where to put it, all I know is I'm using slow (or very slow) distorted beats laid over dark ambient/drone backgrounds, with lots of reverbs and delays, distortions and overdrives, yet keeping it fairly listenable.

In news not related to music: I'm still waiting for art samples for Law of Revenge, while my second project, Six Bullets Left, is currently hanging in air as I seem to be unable to draw certain things. There's a possibility I'll have to give it away to someone else. That is, IF I find someone else at all.

That's it for the "wonderful" news, time to return to pretending I'm busy with writing.

Back to music?

Seems I have returned to music for a bit. It's going to be ten years since I started making music, so I decided to give it another go, and make one more album. But since it is an anniversary, it should be a special one, thus I attempt to build one out of pieces of all my creations since 1997. Well, all the unused ones that don't form any album or anything like that anyway.

Currently I`m halfway through with dismantling my old .mod and .dbm files and making loops out of that for easier editing, then I`m pulling out the backups of my noisetapes and other stuff, I'll use these to spice up the backgrounds.

While writing this I remembered that I had a similar idea few years ago, when I was thinking about an album constructed out of my old unfinished modules, but nothing came out of that idea since I was too lazy to work on it.

So, if I finish the album, it'll be for the Pink Noise Inferno project, and hopefully will incorporate bits of my recordings from early years mostly (various attempts at techno, rock and industrial), spiced up with more recent discoveries in noise, ambient, drone and glitch.

And after that... we'll see what's after that, I might drop music, or I might start something new, or continue with the old. Who knows :)

Full script finished!

Two days ago it finally happened. After weeks of writing, more writing, drawing thumbnails, panel layouts, random sketches and several days filled with writer's block and "OMG I'LL NEVER FINISH IT"'s...

I finished.

I finished my second full script, four issue miniseries titled Six Bullets Left. Yep, it`s full, has all dialogues, panel descriptions, actions, descriptions and whatever else (barely any captions though as I don't use them often).

Now, that was the easy part. Now I'll have to draw it all, every one of the 88 pages, every panel of 437 panels. Damn, and to think hundreds of people do that every day.

And all that while working on another script.

Ok, I just scared myself. Still, I am happy with my titanic achievement (despite the fact that on the grand scale of comic book creations it sits very low) and look forward to drawing this. Cause if I can finish this tale, I can finish a longer one too.

I`m sounding sooo dramatic today, haha.

What a day...

It all started yesterday, actually, so that's where I'll start too.

I got two thing yesterday. First, thanks to a very good friend, I got new speakers. I don't think he'll ever read that but thanks again :)
Second, I got a notice about an unpaid internet bill, apparently I missed one somehow a month or two ago.
Also one more thing happened yesterday, that is my brother's computer going insane. It crashed, and took the hd with itself, screwing up the c: drive (or just the mbr).

Fast forward to today.

I went to find out how long I have until I have to pay for the net and decided to get rid of some crap items online (old books and comics I don't need anymore) to pay them. I sold some and if money arrives by Monday latest, I should be saved from disconnection.

When I got home I decided to reinstall my webcam as it didn't really work anymore (nothing new, does that regularly). This of course screwed up my audio drivers, as if the fact that soundmax drivers have no equalizer on my comp for whatever reason wasn`t annoying enough. So I reinstalled these too.
Meanwhile my brother reinstalled windows... only to find out that windows doesn't see his integrated ethernet card. He jumped at me with his "they probably disconnected my net instead of yours" which is impossible cause I know it won't be touched at least until Monday, plus disconnected internet DOES NOT make your ethernet card evaporate from your system. Anyway, there is no net visible, can't install drivers, even if we force them it says that it doesn't work. I'm guessing it's hardware problem while my brother insists it's windows problem, thus he went to reinstall it AGAIN.

And all that totally disrupted my writing today, not to mention that yesterday writing was affected too.

Speaking of writing. Despite the problems, I'm already done with full script with layouts and thumbs for the first two issues, and am currently working on pages 6-9 for third issue, if nothing comes out tomorrow I should get to 11+, and hopefully have it done by the end of the week, with next week left for the fourth issue.
That'll be the end of second phase.

Last time I was complaining about the writer's block, but also pointed out it`s not too bad at the moment. And guess what, it wasn`t. Which means that I finished the script finally.

Yep, the first version of script for Six Bullets Left is done and I`m currently practicing drawing, sketching character designs, etc. Can`t say when I`ll start properly drawing and how much changes will be done to the script, but hopefully it`ll start soon.

So yeah, the script is finished, currently it`s in a 30k text file, which is not much, and is basically descriptions of actions with 80% of the dialogues ready. Which means I still need to split it into panels (so far I only decided on the length of scenes in loose pagecount) and write the rest of text.

...And then draw all 88 pages of it :P

Meanwhile I guess I`ll focus on writing other stuff, there`s at least 30 ideas I`m developing at once (in various stages of completion), some of which are on hold cause you don`t jump into making comics with an epic that`ll take ten years to complete :P

The beauty of writer's block

Ah, the joy of being stuck halfway through your work, not being able to write another sentence, despite the fact that the ideas are there and you just can`t seem to find the right word to start.

I just had one long writer's block that lasted over a week and stopped me from finishing the early script for a four issue comic book miniseries. I wrote first two in less than three days. And then I got stuck, unable to plot out the second half of third one and jumping ahead to make notes for the fourth one.

And that was it...

...Days pass...

...More days pass...

...Finally, I sat down and managed to write the damned part, only to get stuck again on the fourth one...

...Luckily this time the block has been shorter and I managed to go ahead, writing small chunks, and I think I`m 1/3 done with it, the rest being very very very loosely plotted in a form of 10 sentences or so.

I do hope to finish it soon, it would be my second completed script. Now if only the guy that`s supposed to draw the first one wasn`t so busy with his work :)

Thus I decided to draw the second one myself, seeing as it`s shorter and the story seems to be more appropriate for my somewhat messy art style. So expect something in a year or two :P

Two days ago, that is if my timetable isn`t too screwed by odd sleeping patterns and I`m not mixing up days, I got a link to a polish website with an enneagram test. Thinking it might be another of the silly tests that clutter the blogs, livejournals and myspace profiles, I decided to check out the link anyway.
After doing the test, to my amazement the results came out to be rather accurate; they confirmed what I expected about myself AND also helped out to answer few questions, and in general made me go "wow, this is so true"!

So, what were the results? Well, according to the test I`m "type four with wing in five", meaning an individualist (wing in five was described as "bohemian" type as opposed to wing in three which is named the "aristocrat" type).

I haven`t been here in aaages.

Anyway, I`m still alive as you can see. The financial situation is still shit so nothing new.
Recently I`ve been working on several of my comics ideas, mostly retyping my various notes into the computer, searching for online references and hopelessly waiting for the artist to respond (the one that I mentioned earlier about). I don`t know if he`s ignoring me or is simply too busy to respond on, but I hope it`s the latter. I really really hope he`s not trying to make a run for it with my script. Just in case buddy, I have the original files, the paper version of the story it was based on (which originally was thought up as a comic book anyway) and the thumbs with comments I did for the script :P

So yeah, where were I? Ah yes, typing things. Well, currently I`m busy collecting all notes on a huge, still unnamed fantasy world that I`ve been working on an off since I was 13.
It originally started as a rpg idea, you know, the pen & paper thing like warhammer or werewolf the apocalypse (loved the bloodlines game despite all the bugs btw), but quickly I decided that since I don`t really play them I have no idea what a good game needs. I also realised that it`s not the game I want to make but the world. So I changed the idea a bit and redid it into a fantasy world, later merging other ideas into it.
Among these other ideas there was one about the character I named Durison (can`t remember where I got the name from), who originally, during one of my "plagiarize names from mythologies" periods was named Belor (dunno why), and this character quickly became the main star of twenty or so unfinished stories.
The original concept was that he marries a woman of another race and his son marries a woman of yet another race and his daughter marries a guy named Jazz, all that until the 50th generation that was supposed to give a warrior named Angus (was very fond of that name back then, even used it as a nickname, but then they made a movie about some fat kid named like that and seeing I was a little on the chubby side form time to time I dropped the name), who was going to be THE superior warrior, an eternal with special skills and whatnot.
That idea luckily quickly fell apart (but I did keep the early generations of Durison's family) and I left the whole thing for couple of years. Later I was working on an idea of an atlantis continent, got me this huuuuge poster for some bubblegum thing, drew a map of the continent on the reverse side (was taking entire free space in my room which is rather small considering how much of it is taken by various crap) and again during my "name plagiarizing" moment I ended up writing latin names of whatever stars I could find, which I found the idea silly later and glued little orange stickers all over that map.
This of course looked totally shitty so in the end I threw out the entire thing, leaving just a bunch of notes.
Notes that I later reused partially in constructing the past of Durison's world.
Next big attempt was again few yers later, probably around 2000, when I started rewriting the world's history. I ended up doing it in a form of a website (hand coded html on amiga 1200 = verrrry small fonts now) which I zipped then (well, I used lha actually, but whatever) and forgot about it, later thinking I lost it somewhere.
So what was the next step? over a year ago I lost internet and ended up redoing the entire world once more, ended up making it almost 30 thousands long history of five races and five gods, and I managed to write down first 20 thousand years or so with only the use of few tiny maps. But then it all got too detailed and I was loosing track of it so I decided to wait with it until I can draw some maps on my pc.
Recently I managed to gather all of these notes: the early durison stories, the few "factfiles" I typed on my Amiga, the html thing I found in a forgotten folder when I copied all my old Amiga files from this one gb hd to a hdf file. Also the Atlantis world, old rpg notes, bit later notes made during the stories, couple of other minor fantasy ideas that fit into it quite easily and finally these 150 pages of handwritten text I wrote over a year ago. And I`m retyping it all into my pc. The total amount of the folder with the rtf files is about 500kb now, I`m guessing there`s 200-300 more on paper. hopefully I`m capable of doing anything with all that stuff once it`s all available under the serach option, would hate seeing it go to waste.

wow, look at me go off about a project. I think I`ll write about my hard drive copying adventure next time.

Christmas update

Well, I`m still alive (so far) and I hope to remain in an alive state at least for a while :)

Anyway, financial situation is not too good, but it could be much worse too so I guess that`s ok. Not much has happened with my art (whichever type of), except me making couple of new images and slowly searching for a label. Oh, and I wrote down several ideas for my comics but no proper scripts this time.

Also my net went down for a while, or rather I got capped because of going over the 15gb transfer limit. The trick was I already paid for uncapping it so that I don`t have to worry about limits (exactly why I didn`t make it) and I had to complain to them. So the next month is a bit cheaper thanks to that.

Anyway, because of that I wasn`t able to log almost anywhere (512/256 connection turned into 32/32k connection = crap) and so I didn`t get a chance to witness the groundbreaking moment, mainly my track being played in an internet radio dj mix show :)

They kinda forgot to put my link there but whatever it`s here and I think you can still listen to it maybe?

Life loves to kick you in the ass. I found out today that apparently we haven`t paid the bill for our flat in the last three months. Which most likely will put all my projects on hold as I`ll have to search for extra money :/

Oh well, shit happens, just flush it and keep going on.

The last two weeks

I need to update this place more often. Anyway...

The last two weeks were odd. First I fell into a huge well of lazyness out of which I had to climb out slowly, (kinda like sadako, except I didn`t fail during my life and didn`t have to take revenge by coming out of people's tv sets) and when I was ready to start working on a remix for someone, I ended up being pulled into a most unlikely project for me, I helped on animation. Me, who has problems finishing one simple image once in a while, ended up tracing over 150 frames in four days, from morning to evening, except the last day which was much shorter work. I`ll post some further details on the entire animation later, for now I`ll just say it is for an arts degree and the part I did will score me the limited 2cd edition of Angelspit's Krankhaus album, the sweetest bit of kinky industrial audio poison to hit my ears in ages :)

I have to wait for it of course as that edition is not out yet, but whatever, I`m happy anyway.

In other news.

I`m also on the last few pages of thumbnails for my comic book script, AND I found a second artist for a second project who currently is a bit busy, but that gives me time to finish some scripts. We'll most likely do a short story before anyway to see how we work together and then I hope to do some longer series or a graphic novel with him.

The christian friend story part II.

Yes, it appears we have solved the problem. After few days of arguing I think we came to a silent agreement not to touch the religous stuff and we just chat about other things. Mosfly food actually. I guess you could say all is well, or as well as it can be in a situation like that. Then again entire world is in a similar state, with all the religions/cults/beliefs/antireligions/politics etc clashing together. At least our "conflict" won't cause a WWIII or anything like that.

Of course the test is not entirely right (as all online tests). Yet, quite a lot seems to be accurate, enough to be scary how answering 30 or so questions can tell everything about your personality.

Work in progress

It`s probably a little bit too early to tell anything, but I think I have found someone to do art for one of my comic book projects. So currently I`m stuck, surrounded by a stack of papers, notes, pens, pencils, rulers and other things working on the thumbs for the script so that he can get into "my head" easier and draw it the way I want it to be drawn.

Will something work out of it? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe he`ll drop the work and abandon me with an unfinished story, maybe it`ll suck, maybe it`ll be good but not good enough for printing. But there`s also a possibility that it`ll be good enough and that it catches on enough to finish the entire seven issue run and have it released as a trade.
Or maybe as a graphic novel straight away without playing around with monthly issues? Who knows. I don`t, not yet anyway.

Still, the 158 pages of script need to be presented in the form of thumbs before anything can really happen. So I guess it`s back to work for me. And let`s hope for the best.

Decided to upload some of my old short comics to my deviantart site. Both are very short, two and three pages respectively.

First one is Toilet Story, my oldest existing comic, or rather oldest existing comic that I`m willing to show online. Don`t be scared by the title, it`s nothing perverted (I`ll warn you if I`ll be putting something like THAT). Entirely black & white and bascically wordless, unless you count sound effects as words. This was basically a test if I can make a short, traditional comic book, first pencils, then ink (or "ink", since I used a black marker to fill the large black spaces. By now this black marker turned purple despite keeping the pages in a drawer).

Second comic is longer, and it also includes colors. Made in quite possibly 2003 (might have been 2002 or 2004), it was planned as a beginning of longer series of short stories but I never got around to do any more of them. The idea was to use very old jokes, stories from legends/fables (mostly polish ones) plus my own writings to write about a small town placed at the end of the world. The title was going to be explained in second episode, where the sheepherder was camping with two angels, and while eating roast sausages, they explained to him that end of the world will most likely happen after he dies.
Sadly, the concept died pretty quick as I was unable at that point to finish the pages, they were drawn without any panel frames or word baloons and I was going to add them later after scanning, but unfortunately I didn`t have a working scanner for a while.

Changes all around me

I`ve been out of the net for almost exactly half year. During that time a lot of things have changed, some more, some less.
The day I return I find out that my favourite board is dead for good. It was dying already, basically just a rotting carcass of it`s previous self with not more than few posts a day. There used to be hundreds of posts while the place was alive, but suddenly more and more people drifted away, until finally there was left a small group of observers who waited for something to happen but didn`t post by themselves, unless to comment on a previous post. Oh well, things like that happen.

Same with software. New versions of favourite applications irritate me, some changes make it hard to work or at least confuse me. Took me a few days to stop clicking on the wrong end of the screen to open a new tab in Opera.

And of course people change too. Recently I lost a friend. He was a very nice guy who had some personal problems and always asked me for help. This help was very simple, just listening what he had to say, letting him pour his life difficulties through the Trillian window, share his guitar recordings with me (he used to make cool western themes covers). Not really much but I guess that was what he needed. Unfortunately half year ago I lost net, and of course I lost contact with him.
Once I returned, I sent him a message, he replied about half day later, and one of the things he said was that he`s now a born again christian. Or rather Born Again Christian, as he spelled it. We got into a short debate, as my views are a bit on the side of seeing religious text as mythology. I don`t see any difference between christianity or ancient greece beliefs. This of course angered him, and he started shouting at me and for the next two day throwing random (or so it seems) bible quotes at me. At this point I stopped responding. Still makes me sad he took this turn but if it makes him happy, good for him.
Don`t think we could continue our friendship seeing that half of my interests are often conflicting with organized religions. Oh well.

There are positive changes too of course. Finally I decided to do something and mark my presence in the world, with my music (various musical projects, none of which so far released), writing (mostly interested in comics & graphic novels) and digital art (can`t say I`m the greatest here but I`m working on it).

So watch out the world, here I come, or rather try to climb on the first step on the stairs to memories of future generations (if there will be any, who says we won`t wipe out ourselves in the next few decades).

Probably why I always had problems with various school assignment, they either were too short or quickly wandered off topic.

There`s no topic here, just a bunch of ramblings to start a blog, to make the first mark on the empty (and as such entirely nonexistent) blog. Just me, my keyboard and words... And no one reading it, most likely :)
